Here’s How We’re In The Top 1% Of Houston Area Roofers

We’re Among The Top 1% Of Houston Roofers

With GAF Master Elite And CertainTeed Select Shingle
Master Certifications – We’re Truly One Of A Kind

Did you know that anyone can become a Houston, TX roofing contractor? Literally, anyone who wants to call themselves a “roofer” can do so. There are no state license requirements… you just have to start.

This is great for random Joe, the handyman, but it’s NOT great for you, the Houston, TX homeowner.

In fact, most roofers in Texas don’t have a license or certification. They purchase second-rate shingles from whichever manufacturer offers them the best price and slap them on your roof.

As you can imagine, you're assuming a lot of risk while they aren’t assuming any.

Fortunately, there’s a better option – Blue Truss Roofing. We are among the top 1% of roofers in Texas, and we hold Master-level certifications from multiple top-rated roofing manufacturers.

There’s “Certified” – And Then There’s MASTER Certified

You can break Houston area roofers into three categories – not certified, certified, and master certified.

As mentioned, most roofers aren’t certified at all. This means no manufacturer has “certified” them in any way. So, they may be great or do an awful job. There’s really no accurate way to tell.

Certified contractors have demonstrated their abilities to roofing manufacturers and received “certification.” However, not all certifications are created equal.

That brings us to Master Certified – the best of the best… of the best. Master Certified roofers have demonstrated exceptional qualities and checked all the boxes with a manufacturer.

Only one to two percent of roofers become Master Certified – Blue Truss Roofing is one of them. In fact, we’re one of the only roofers in Houston who’ve obtained Master certification with multiple top-notch manufacturers, which makes us truly different than other roofers.

Specifically, we’ve earned GAF’s Master Elite Certification and CertainTeed’s Select Shingle Master Certification.

Our Master Status With Multiple Top Manufacturers
Places Us In The Top 1% Of All Houston Roofers

It’s not that other roofers are lazy or feel certification is unimportant. They know it’s important and would LOVE to have Master status.

But it’s not easy.

The large majority of roofers in the Houston area simply don’t meet the criteria. Otherwise, they’d apply and receive Master status.

So, what are the criteria? Well, here are some (but not all) requirements:

  • Be in business for 7+ years
  • Meet certain training requirements
  • Maintain a certain level of insurance
  • Prove your company’s financial stability
  • Build approximately 40-50 roofs under the maximum warranty
  • Have little to no infractions, a solid BBB rating, and very few (if any) bad reviews

More than that, you can lose Master certification as well.

If your installers aren’t certified, the quality of your work declines, or the number of projects you complete using the manufacturer’s products dips, the manufacturer may not renew the contractor’s Master certification (which must be renewed annually).

So, it’s an annual battle to maintain the Master status with both GAF and CertainTeed.

Our Master Certification Leads To
Better Warranties For YOU

“Sounds great, but how does it help me?” The short and sweet answer: You will receive a BETTER warranty.

Specifically, for GAF, it’s the “Golden Pledge Warranty” (or, in some cases, the “Silver Pledge Warranty”). For CertainTeed roofs, it’s called the “Five-Star Warranty.” We only build roofs that have one of those three elite warranties.

With non-certified roofers, their warranty is their “word.” You’re supposed to trust them when they offer you a “warranty.”

Sure, they might have a standard 10-year material warranty with the manufacturer, but it’s not significant and doesn’t include labor mistakes.

A certified contractor who hasn’t reached the master level will offer a better warranty, but it’s still lacking compared to our warranty offerings.

Only a master contractor such as Blue Truss Roofing can offer 100% coverage for materials AND labor. So, our warranty is essentially a no-risk warranty (other than storm-related damages, in which case your insurance should cover the cost).
