Direct Answer

Most replacements take 1–2 days depending on roof size and material — see our GAF vs CertainTeed comparison to decide which shingle you want installed. The full process — from initial inspection to final documentation — typically runs two to six weeks for a retail job, or six to twelve weeks for an insurance claim job depending on adjuster scheduling and carrier processing time. Blue Truss manages the full process and keeps you informed at every step.

The Complete Roof Replacement Timeline
1
Day 1

Free Roof Inspection

Your Blue Truss representative gets on your roof and inspects every component — shingles, ridge cap, flashing, pipe boots, vents, gutters, soffit, and fascia. Everything is documented with photos. You receive a written assessment of what was found and a clear recommendation — repair, replacement, or no action needed.

2
Days 1–3

Written Estimate & Material Selection

You receive a detailed written estimate before any commitment is made. Blue Truss brings full sample boards to the estimate appointment — you select your shingle line, color, and any upgrades. No pressure, no rush. The estimate covers all materials, labor, and warranty documentation — and budget planning is easy with our roof replacement cost in The Woodlands guide.

3
Insurance Jobs: 2–6 Weeks

Insurance Claim Process (If Applicable)

If your replacement is insurance-related, Blue Truss walks you through filing the claim, schedules to be present at your adjuster inspection, reviews the Xactimate estimate, and submits supplements for any legitimately missed line items. This process typically takes two to six weeks depending on your carrier’s scheduling and processing time.

4
1–2 Weeks Before Installation

Permit & Material Ordering

Blue Truss pulls the required permit for your jurisdiction and orders your materials. Materials are typically delivered to your home one to two days before the installation date. Your project manager contacts you to confirm the installation schedule and walk you through what to expect — see our roof replacement process for a full overview.

5
Installation Day

Roof Installation — Day 1

The crew arrives early — typically 6 to 7 AM. They immediately protect your property — covering pool equipment, A/C units, landscaping, and neighboring surfaces with tarps. Your W-2 project manager is on site from the first nail to the final cleanup. The old roof is fully torn off, the deck is inspected and any damaged decking is replaced, and the new system is installed — ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, starter strips, shingles, ridge cap, and all new changeable flashing.

6
Installation Day — Evening

Day-Of Cleanup

At the end of each installation day, the crew cleans up large debris. Your project manager does a walk-through inspection and provides you with a progress update. A magnetic nail sweep is run around your property to collect stray fasteners. Most standard installations are completed in a single day.

7
Day After Installation

Final Inspection & Detail Cleanup

Your project manager returns the morning after installation with a detail crew. They perform a final roof inspection, address any items that need attention, complete detail cleanup, and run a second magnetic nail sweep around the full property — including the driveway and pool area. Nothing is signed off until the job meets Blue Truss standards.

8
Within 1–2 Weeks of Completion

Documentation & Warranty

You receive complete photo documentation of the installation, a Certificate of Completion, and all manufacturer warranty documentation. For insurance jobs, Blue Truss reminds you to submit the Certificate of Completion to your carrier to release any depreciation holdback. Warranty registration is handled on your behalf.

What Affects The Timeline

Weather

Roofing cannot be performed in rain or high wind. The Woodlands market typically has good installation windows year-round, but storm seasons can create scheduling delays. Blue Truss will never rush an installation to beat weather — the job waits for safe conditions.

Roof Size & Complexity

Most standard Woodlands residential roofs are completed in one day. Larger homes, complex roof geometries, multiple penetrations, or significant decking replacement can extend installation to two days.

Insurance Processing

Insurance claim jobs take longer than retail jobs due to adjuster scheduling, Xactimate review, and carrier approval processes. Blue Truss manages this process — you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Material Availability

After major storm events, high shingle demand can extend lead times on specific colors or products. Blue Truss maintains relationships with suppliers to minimize delays — but some post-storm scenarios may require flexibility on material selection or scheduling.

What To Do To Prepare

Homeowner Preparation Checklist

  • Move vehicles out of the driveway and away from the home on installation day
  • Let your neighbors know — installation is noisy and the crew will be working around the perimeter
  • Remove or secure items from walls and shelves inside — vibration from the work can shake things loose
  • Keep pets indoors and away from work areas
  • You can stay in your home during installation — most homeowners do
  • Plan to be home or have someone available for the project manager to communicate with during the job
The Blue Truss Difference

Your dedicated W-2 project manager is on your property from the first nail to the final cleanup — every day. They are a full-time Blue Truss employee, not a subcontractor. They document progress with photos, communicate directly with you throughout the day, and ensure every aspect of your installation meets our Golden Standard. When they leave, your roof has been inspected, your property has been cleaned, and you have all the documentation you need — see reviews from homeowners we’ve replaced roofs for.

GO WITH BLUETRUSS ROOFING & CHRIS DOYLE!

"CONFIDENCE, TRUST & VALUE IN A ROOF REPLACEMENT - GO WITH BLUETRUSS ROOFING & CHRIS DOYLE

THE INSTALLATION

The Roofing materials were delivered to my home one-day prior to the installation. Chris Doyle, the project manager, scheduled the time before the Thanksgiving Holidays. His crew was punctual and arrived at 7AM. They immediately started to cover my pool, my outside A/C units, and those of my neighbors. They also laid out tarps to catch any falling tiles, nails, and debris.

Chris was here throughout the entire time to provide oversight to his crew and to photo document all aspects of the roof replacement. The men worked very efficiently, and tirelessly, to remove all the old existing roofing tile from the roof. We stayed in the house, and I will let you know that it was a noisy process. So, if you have a job that depends on Zoom or Microsoft Team Meetings, I suggest that you not schedule any of them on the day of your roof installation. This said, it was perfectly fine to be in your home while the roofing was taking place.

After the house was cleared of all the old tile, they identified a few areas where the wood that supports the tile had deteriorated. They replaced the areas and continued to cover the entire area with a waterproof barrier. I would note that Chris was mindful of the time that would be used if his crew had to break for lunch. To maximize the time spent on the project he bought lunch for the crew and provided it to them at the work site. Additionally, throughout the day he gave me updates as to the progress they were making and if I had anything that needed to be addressed.

Lastly, in a very sequential fashion they covered the roof with the new roofing tile, reinstalled the ridge vents, painted all the pipes that exited the roof. As dusk approached the crew spent time cleaning up the large debris that was a result of cutting tiles to fit the geometry of the roof.

THE CLEAN UP

The next day Chris came early with a skeletal crew. They did the final check on the roof and addressed anything that could have been overlooked. They were very attentive to all aspects of the cleanup. They used a magnetic pole to pickup any stray nails around my property and pool. They even scrubbed my concrete driveway of some incidental scuff marks that were left from falling tiles.

THE FOLLOWUP

Chris provided me with all the photo documentation of the entire project. He gave me a Certificate of Completion and even reminded me to provide this to my insurance company to have my homeowner’s insurance adjusted based on the new roof. He assured me that all the warranty information should come in a few weeks.

MY ASSESSMENT

Besides the purchase of my home, pool, and car, my roof replacement was the largest single thing that I ever had to pay for. This said, meeting and working with Chris Doyle with Bluetruss made every dollar I spent, on having my roof done by them, worth it.

Chris is well-grounded and knowledgeable about the company he is a Project Manager for. He delivered on all his promises and commitment to be here during the installation and assure the installation of a quality roof that would transform our home. Finally, it was the sense of trust and confidence that I had in Chris that really made the difference in the selection of Bluetruss as the company to entrust for the replacement of my home’s roof.

So, if you are experiencing some anxiety in selecting a company to replace your roof, you can reduce the stress in your life and increase the confidence in what you will be getting for your money, by making the right choice with Chris Doyle with Blue Truss Roofing. They service Montgomery, Magnolia, The Woodlands, Spring and all adjoining areas."

With Gratitude,

Rocco

Frequently Asked Questions: Roof Replacement Timeline

Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in The Woodlands?

Most roof replacements in The Woodlands and Montgomery County don’t require a permit pulled by the contractor before work begins. If they do, Blue Truss handles all permitting on every job. Permit requirements vary slightly between municipalities such as Conroe, Montgomery, and Tomball — Blue Truss manages compliance with the appropriate jurisdiction for the property with you as the homeowner.

Does Blue Truss require a deposit for roof replacement?

Blue Truss does not require any deposit for roof replacement. Homeowners pay only when the job is complete and they are satisfied with the work — Blue Truss’s YOU Say When You Pay model. Most roofers in The Woodlands area require 33 to 50 percent upfront, which transfers financial risk to the homeowner before any work is performed.

Does insurance pay for roof replacement in Texas?

Homeowners insurance may cover roof replacement when damage is caused by a qualifying event such as hail, wind, or storm impact, typically minus the deductible. Coverage depends on the specific policy and the cause of damage. Blue Truss provides photo documentation and a detailed scope of work to support the homeowner’s claim, but does not negotiate claims or act as a public adjuster — Texas law restricts that role to licensed professionals.

How long does a roof replacement take in The Woodlands?

Most residential roof replacements in The Woodlands are completed in one to two days. Larger or more complex roofs with multiple ridgelines, valleys, or steep pitch can take three days. Blue Truss assigns a dedicated W-2 project manager who is on site every day from tear-off through final cleanup.

How much do premium shingles cost compared to standard shingles?

Standard architectural shingles like CertainTeed Landmark or GAF Timberline HDZ run approximately $200 to $280 per square. Premium lines like CertainTeed Landmark Pro run $280 to $400 per square. Designer shingles such as CertainTeed Grand Manor reach $500 to $700 per square. Upgrading shingle grade is a clearly priced decision, not a hidden variable.

How much does a roof replacement cost in The Woodlands, TX?

Roof replacement in The Woodlands typically costs between $15,000 and $45,000, with most homes landing between $20,000 and $32,000. The final price is driven primarily by roof size and complexity, then by material grade, and finally by the standards of the company doing the work. Architectural shingles run approximately $200 to $280 per square, while premium and designer shingle lines run higher.

What is included in a Blue Truss roof replacement?

Every Blue Truss roof replacement includes full tear-off and disposal, ice and water shield at all endwalls and valleys, premium synthetic underlayment, all removable flashing replaced, all pipe boots and four-way vents replaced, drip edge, starter strip, ridge cap, and proper attic ventilation. Six nails per shingle is standard on every job — two more than the industry default of four. There is no basic tier — every installation is built to CertainTeed ShingleMaster Premier specification.

What is the average roof replacement cost on a Woodlands-area home?

Most Woodlands-area homes fall between $20,000 and $32,000 for a complete roof replacement. The Woodlands has an average home value of approximately $625,000 (Redfin, 2026), and a roof on a home that size typically requires 28 to 32 squares of shingles plus full system components. Final cost depends on roof complexity, material selection, and ventilation requirements.

What makes Blue Truss different from other roofing companies in The Woodlands?

Blue Truss holds both CertainTeed ShingleMaster Premier and GAF Master Elite certification simultaneously — credentials held by fewer than 2 percent of contractors nationally. Every installation includes six nails per shingle, full tear-off, all replaceable flashing replaced, and a W-2 project manager on site daily. Blue Truss has earned over 200 five-star Google reviews and was voted #1 Best of The Woodlands Roofing 2026.

What roofing materials does Blue Truss install?

Blue Truss installs complete CertainTeed and GAF roofing systems exclusively, with no mixed-brand or builder-grade substitutions. CertainTeed product lines include Landmark Pro, Grand Manor, and designer shingles backed by the SureStart PLUS warranty. GAF Timberline HDZ installations are backed by the GAF Golden Pledge warranty — 50-year non-prorated materials and up to 30-year workmanship coverage.

What warranty comes with a Blue Truss roof replacement?

Every Blue Truss installation includes a manufacturer-backed warranty at no additional cost — CertainTeed SureStart PLUS 4-STAR, 5-STAR, or 5-STAR Lifetime, or GAF Silver Pledge or Golden Pledge depending on the product line. These third-party warranties are backed by the manufacturer, not just the contractor — meaning coverage stands regardless of what happens to the company that installed the roof. Specific warranty tier depends on shingle line and certification level.

Why is one roof replacement quote so much cheaper than the others?

A quote that comes in $5,000 to $8,000 below comparable bids is almost always cutting labor quality, skipping line items, downgrading materials, or operating without proper insurance. Materials cost roughly the same for every contractor, and contractor margins in this market typically run 15 to 20 percent, leaving little room for legitimate price separation. The risk of the lowest bid usually does not surface until years after installation.
